Pediatric dermatology and rare diseases


Diagnostic investigation and treatment of dermatologic diseases from neonatal to adolescent age and Referral Center of Rare Diseases with skin involvement of both child and adult.

TOPICS

  1. Outpatient examinations with diagnostic and therapeutic purposes for congenital or acquired dermatologic diseases of malformative, neoplastic and inflammatory types.
  2. Consulting activities for pediatric inpatient and emergency departments.
  3. Outpatient surgery: excision under local anesthesia of small cutaneous and subcutaneous neoformations and incisional skin biopsy for diagnostic purposes, both in the infant, child and adolescent.
  4. Outpatient clinics dedicated to atopic dermatitis and psoriasis in children and adolescents, vascular malformations and complex and/or rare diseases.
  5. Research activities and scientific publications in pediatric and genodermatosis.
  6. Treatments with biological drugs approved by AIFA and in clinical trials/compassionate use.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Early diagnosis, management and treatment of serious or complex pediatric diseases.
  2. Therapeutic education for dermatologic diseases with chronic-recurrent course.
  3. Multidisciplinary care of rare diseases.

Italian reference center of the European Reference Network skin disorders (ERN-Skin), the European network of rare skin diseases for the following disorders:

  • Ichthyosis and palmoplantar keratodermae
  • Connective tissue disorders with monogenic inheritance
  • Bullous epidermolysis
  • Cutaneous mosaicisms
  • Tumors and vascular malformations

National and international reference of about 60 rare diseases, for which it is a certifying center.
