Cytogenetics Laboratory

The activity is focused on conventional and molecular cytogenetic analyses, aimed at identifying and characterizing oncohaematological diseases such as: Acute Lymphoid Leukemias, Acute Myeloid Leukemias, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, Multiple Myeloma and Myelodysplastic Syndrome.

Research Projects:

Cytogenetic-molecular characterization related to:

  • Cytogenetic diagnoses of oncohematological diseases.
  • Identification of prognostic risk factors.
  • Support for clinical trials and translational studies for:
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Acute and chronic, myeloid and lymphoid syndromes
  • Myelodysplastic syndromes
  • Study of cytogenetic markers and their molecular characteristics related to their prognostic and therapeutic implications.
  • Progetto di Ricerca Finalizzata 2018, Italian Ministry of Health - Young Researchers: “High risk genetic abnormalities in Acute Myeloid Leukemia and Myelodisplastic Syndrome: unravelling the pathogenetic mechanisms to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches”; PI Dott.ssa Carmen Baldazzi.
