Translational Medicine

Molecular and cellular biology, genetics, microbiology, bioengineering and medical physics, to rapidly transfer discoveries from the laboratory into clinical practice.

The field of translational medicine research integrates molecular and cellular biology, genetics, microbiology, bioengineering and medical physics to rapidly transfer laboratory discoveries into clinical practice. Activities are organised into study centres, research groups and specialised laboratories, addressing topics such as oncology, regenerative medicine, microbiota, ageing, cardiology and nanotechnologies applied to health. The aim is to develop innovative biomarkers, new therapeutic strategies and personalised medicine approaches, promoting dialogue between basic research and clinical applications to improve the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases.

How research activities are organised

Dimec focuses its scientific research efforts in Research Study Centres (CSRs) established by resolution of the UNIBO Board of Directors. Research groups can carry out their research and study activities in the CSRs.
