Cancer Research Laboratories

Basic, translational, and preclinical oncological research is carried out here by researchers of the University of Bologna and affiliated entities, Emilia-Romagna Regional Environmental Prevention Agency, and the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute.

The research carries on the tradition of the Institute of Cancerology founded by Giorgio Prodi, which had its first independent headquarters here in 1982:

- Carcinogenesis

- Cancer cell biology

- Mechanisms of metastatic spread

- Tumor immunology

Lab Equipment:

In addition to the instrumentation of the research groups operating in the Cancer Research Laboratories, the common facilities allow the cryopreservation of biological samples at -80 ° C  in nitrogen vapor; the washing and sterilization of glassware and materials for cell culture; and the breeding and maintenance of inbred, immunodeficient, and genetically modified mice.
