Tumor Cell Biology

The group's principal research activity is the study of the metabolic characteristics of tumor cells, particularly with respect to glucose metabolism. The scope of our work is evaluating how the metabolic axis of tumor cells can affect their phenotype as well as their response to pharmacological treatment.

Areas of research:

Glycolytic metabolism; DNA damage response

Research projects:

  1. The role of the enzyme lactate dehydrogenase in the biology of tumor cells
  2. Modulators of the Rad51-BRCA2 interaction to inhibit homologous recombination.

Ongoing research objectives:

  1. Glycolytic metabolism and drug resistance: the epigenetic effects of lactate
  2. Inhibition of homologous recombination to increase the efficiency of PARP inhibitors in anti-neoplastic treatments.
