International dimension

International scientific research and cooperation

DIMEC promotes biomedical and translational research through collaborations with international academic and healthcare institutions. It participates in global networks and platforms such as EPTRI, a European infrastructure dedicated to translational pediatric research, and BBMRI, a European network for the enhancement and digitization of biobanks. These collaborations promote the exchange of knowledge and access to shared research infrastructures, with the aim of strengthening the Department's scientific quality and visibility in the European and global context.

Training and academic mobility

The international dimension of the educational offering is guaranteed by bachelor's and master's degree programs taught in English, including Medicine and Surgery and Medical Biotechnology. The Department promotes student and faculty mobility through European and Asian academic networks, joint doctoral programs, and scholarships for study abroad, thereby increasing the attractiveness of its educational programs.

European-level research infrastructure

DIMEC participates in the Center for Applied Biomedical Research (CRBA) as a service center that provides space, advanced technologies, and technical and scientific expertise for research, development, analysis, and consulting activities. It supports the University's research groups and promotes collaborations with public and private entities, fostering innovation and technology transfer in the biomedical field.

Attracting talent and developing doctoral programs

The Department invests in the training of young researchers by promoting mobility and international cooperation among doctoral students. Through Marco Polo and BIR scholarships, co-financing, and competitive calls for proposals, DIMEC aims to attract students from other Italian and foreign universities, consolidating its role as a center of excellence in biomedical research training.

Visiting professor e researcher

The Department collaborates scientifically and educationally with various universities and research centers in Europe and around the world, periodically hosting visiting professors and students, as well as international delegations interested in the Department's educational and research activities.
